Our Mission

The Advocates for Herring Bay (AHB) is a community-based environmental group that works to preserve, restore, and enhance the ecosystems of Herring Bay, a bay within the Chesapeake Bay. We serve as stewards of those resources by restoring historic oyster reefs, monitoring the health of local habitats, and promoting the planting of native vegetation. We are a voice for Herring Bay, advocating for policies that will sustain the long-term health of its valuable but fragile ecological resources.

AHB was founded in 2005 by individuals from Fairhaven, a community in southern Anne Arundel County, Maryland. AHB is a nonpartisan organization and does not endorse candidates for political office. We welcome you to join us in our mission.
